the Treasurer’s report passed unanimously.
Old Business
- Succession Planning:
We have one board opening this year, and next year at least one, possibly
two. We have someone potentially
interested who has some accounting background.
- CVO update:
Entryeeze set up is in process but not yet opened.. The Skate Canada
sanction has been approved.
Liaison Reports
- Professionals’ Liaisons:
no news.
- Officials’ Liaison: No
news.
- Test Chair: One
out-of-session test worked out well. May
4 test session is only 4 people (it is unfortunately the same weekend as the
Leddy show). Next test sessions will be
June 22 and August 24.
- Team Reports
- VCTI: Spotlights
is cancelled—the team is hosting a replacement seminar with two professionals
from Joy Skates Productions in Boston.
It will be an excellent way to work on camaraderie and dramatic skills. In other news, the Festival was a great
success!
- OTI: Had
a great experience at the Festival. The
contradancer who wrote original music for the long program was in the audience
and loved seeing it. Making changes,
especially to the CE, for the future.
Participating in the Leddy Fun and Family event on April 20; the Leddy
Show; the Waterbury Show; North Shore Open; and Nationals!
New
Business
- National
Qualifying Series (NQS): The new NQS will affect both Regionals
and the CVO. There are multiple pathways
to qualifying for sectionals. There will
be a summer NQS—and the CVO’s IJS events could be part of the NQS (we will
check for this year and can submit the CVO 2020 for next year’s NQS). Over time Regionals will likely have fewer
people. North Star FSC is hosting both New England Regionals and North-Atlantic
Regionals. These two regionals will be hosted by the same club (which has
multiple rinks), at the same time. We
are preparing to bid on Regionals, and the bid packet awaits a few more pieces
of information about hotels, ice costs, and organizing committee interest.
- Membership rates
for next year: Motion to delegate membership rate-setting
for 2019-20 to the President and Vice-President, based on USFS announced
membership rates for the year, with the expectation that club rates will be
flat if USFS does not raise rates, and that club rates will rise slightly if
USFS raises rates passed unanimously.
- Banquet set up: Lisa Segear can pick up the cake. Set up can begin at 5:30 pm. Discussion of whether we should recognize
skaters who have passed tests with distinction or honors.
Interesting news that emerged during
the meeting: Synchro Nationals will be in Lake Placid in March 2020, two weeks
after Worlds in Montreal!
Next meeting will be immediately
following the close of the Annual Meeting, on May 15 at Colchester High School.
Meeting adjourned, with unanimous consent, at 8:05 pm. June meeting will be June 12, at Ellsworth
Segear offices in Essex Junction.
Meeting adjourned at 7:34, with
unanimous consent.
Respectfully submitted, Susan
Harrington
