Melody Benson (610) 704-8205  Melody, a fourth generation Vermonter, has been coaching for over 10 years, the last 5 here in Vermont. She did most of her training in both the Philadelphia area and Wilmington, Delaware, alongside many National, World, and Olympic competitors, where she had the great opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches and choreographers in the country. She is also the Skating Director of The Edge Skating School in Waterbury, and she teaches group lessons at Leddy Park Arena for Burlington Parks & Recreation. She specializes in freestyle, moves in the field, ice dance, choreography, and beginning figures. Melody teaches beginners through advanced skaters, young children through adults, and both recreational and competitive skaters. Please contact her for lesson rates.


Russell Bowen (802) 496-3770h   (802) 496-4663 Russ is a National Jr. Dance competitor and an Eastern Jr. Dance Champion, 2nd Eastern Sr. Dance and competed in Adult Nationals.  He completed his Gold Dances,  Sr. Free Dance and his 2nd figures tests.  Russ has been teaching dance, hockey skating skills and MIF through Pre Juvenile to adults and children for 12 years.  Russ has been a Dance Judge, skating club president, is a PSA Registered Dance member and a certified PSIA ski instructor. Rate: $50/hr


Vera Bowen (802) 496-3770 Vera is a former National Jr. Dance champion and  completed her Gold Dance and 7th figure tests.  Her students have won National Jr Dance titles, competed in Sr. Dance and Internationally.  She teaches all aspects of figure skating and her students have passed their Gold Dances, Gold Free Dance, International Dances, 8th figure tests, Senior Moves and Senior Freestyle.  Vera has students who range in age from pre-teen to octogenarians.  Vera is member of the PSA and is Master Rated in Dance and Free Dance and has been a PSA Examiner. Rate: $60/hr

Jillian Geiss Frascoia  802-318-2364  Jillian is a member of US Figure Skating and the Professional Skating Association. She is the Director of the Vermont Skating Academy. She has her Junior Freestyle Test, 5th Figure, Bronze Dance tests, and has been instructing for over 23 years in this community. She enjoys teaching both competitive and recreational figure skaters. Rate $50/hr.



Erin Gravelle  (802) 238-9023 – Erin is a member of the PSA and holds Registered ratings in Dance, Move in the Field and Group. She has passed her Senior Moves in the Field, Pre-Gold Dances, Intermediate Freestyle and 6th Figure tests.  A former skater with Disney on Ice, Erin enjoys performance as well as the competitive and testing aspects of figure skating.  Erin has experience with and enjoys all ages and abilities, and she is especially interested in working with adult learners. Rate: $44/hour or session



Martha Harding  (802) 238-0686 – Martha is a member of the PSA and a Master rated professional in Figures, Freestyle, Moves in the Field and Group, and a Registered rated professional in Team skating. She has passed her 8th Figure, Senior Freestyle and Silver Dance tests and has 35 years of experience teaching. Her students range from children to adults, and include both recreational and competitive skaters. Her students have medaled at Regionals, Sectionals, Adult Nationals and Collegiate Nationals competitions. Martha is a professional for On Thin Ice and Vermont Children’s Theatre On Ice. Rate: $60/hour



Gabrielle Kalinen (802) 881-9032  Gabrielle is an active member of US Figure Skating and the PSA, and is pursuing judging. She has passed her Junior Moves in the Field and Intermediate Freeskate. She has skated competitively for 10 years and has placed in the top 10 for qualifying rounds at New England Regional’s at the intermediate level. She currently skates for the Ice Cats who perform at the UVM Men’s Varsity home games and for the UVM Freestyle Team. She loves working with people ranging in all ages and abilities.  Rate: $45/hour, $32 Intro to Private/hour



Jennifer Lupia  (802) 309-0419 – Jenn’s web page Jenn’s FaceBook page Gold Medal Status in Dance, CFSC Dance, Figures, Freestyle, Free Dance, Moves in The Field, PSA Rated Registered MIF & FS, Power Hockey Level 2.  As a coach, Jennifer’s objective is to encourage her students to set goals and achieve their dreams. She instills a sense of diligence and dedication as well as the joy of skating through creativity. Plus every summer Jennifer takes skaters to Lake Placid for a training camp.  Jennifer coaches all levels and abilities. She does have some lesson slots still open. Rate: $60/hour



Julie MacDonald  (802) 863-3031 – Julie is a member of US Figure Skating and the PSA.  She has passed the ISI Freestyle 3 and Figure 1 tests, the US Figure Skating Preliminary Freestyle, Moves and Figure tests, and Preliminary Dances. Julie teaches group lessons for the Burlington Parks & Recreation Department and the Essex Skating Academy.  She is the coordinator of the Advanced Group lesson skating class at Leddy Arena, and also teaches Beginner Hockey Skating Skills. Julie has taught private and group lessons for the past 33 years. She is available to teach all ages, from 3-year-olds through adults and has some slots still open for this winter. Rate: $42/session Intro to Private Lessons: $15 per 1/2 session

Patricia A. Stokowski, PhD, (802) 383-8951 –  Patricia is a Gold Medalist and specialist in ice dance who coaches all ages / all levels in ice dance and moves in the field.  Her students have competed and medaled at Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships, New England regional and Eastern sectional ice dance competitions, and Adult National Championships, and her teams have placed within the top six at Junior National Championships. She is eager to share her love of ice dance with both competitive and recreational skaters! Beyond the rink, Pat is a Professor in the Rubenstein School at the University of Vermont.  Rate: $60 / hour
