How to join CVSC
If You Are a Beginner of Any Age
Are you a beginning skater and prefer to learn on a one-on-one basis? Our introduction to private skating lesson program offers skaters of all ages and abilities the chance to try private lessons for the first time. While we recommend beginners join a group lesson program at Vermont Skating Academy or Burlington Parks and Rec, registration dates may have passed, or you may prefer private, one-on-one lessons.
The introduction to private lesson program is open to new skaters of all ages. It offers skaters one hour on the ice (20 minutes of lesson, and 40 minutes of practice), and a basic skills/Learn-to-Skate membership in the US Figure Skating Association (USFSA).
We require that you connect and work with one of our approved figure skating coaches. Together you can determine your lesson schedule. We also offer discounted ice packages for new basic skill skaters.

If You Are Currently in Group Lessons
Are you enjoying group lessons and are ready to test to get to the next level? Are you ready to compete in Basic Skills events? Membership in Champlain Valley Skating Club is required to test and compete, as well as perform in shows at certain skill levels.
Beyond testing and competing, membership gives you access to CVSC ice sessions, USFS skating tests, and eligibility to join VT Children's Theater on Ice, On Thin Ice, and high school teams. You'll receive invitation to all club special events, a subscription to USFSA's Skating Magazine, and much more.
If you are currently skating with a Learn-to-Skate program like Vermont Skating Academy, be on the lookout for a special program for Intro to Private skaters to continue skating lessons when Essex Arena closes for the season. Speak to your Program Director to learn more.

If you were a USFSA member in the past and you are looking to get back into the sport, or, if you are USFSA member with another club here for college or vacation, contact us for membership or to skate on our club ice sessions. All USFSA members are welcome!
